Cèlia Tort Pujol (Vic, 1995) is a Catalan oboist and performer based in Amsterdam since 2018, where she graduated with cum laude from her music masters in June 2020.
She is focused on redefining the role of her instrument by linking it to a diverse number of artistic disciplines, such as theatre, dance and visual arts. Therefore, after finishing her studies she presented Teleater in Joods Cultureel Kwartier, ExploreZ festival and Encuentros, all venues from Amsterdam. Teleater is a music-theatre piece that was presented as the final result of her master research at Conservatorium van Amsterdam, obtaining the highest qualifications. Other pieces of her had been also premiered in Catalonia.
Apart from creating new music-theatre pieces, Cèlia is currently focused on spreading the oboe repertoire through collaborations with young composers from The Netherlands, Europe and around the world, and she plays in different ensembles and orchestras from the Iberian Peninsula and The Netherlands, performing in venues such as Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona), Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid) or Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ (Àmsterdam). She is also involved in educational activities, like teaching and creating workshops around music creation and improvisation, and also in writing and giving talks about how to incorporate the oboe in new contexts of music creation. Recently, she has published an essay in AFOES’ magazine (Asociación de Fagotistas y Oboístas de España) that will present in the yearly congress of the same association at the end of this year.
Cèlia is a member of the collective not the center, which has been invited to work in the arts center deSingel (Belgium) and Nástupište 1-12 (Slovakia), and she is one of the co-founders of Lilith Ensemble, the first contemporary chamber music ensemble in the world which only performs compositions written by female composers and which has just recorded the first CD.
